Dear Sophie,
I love your magazine and read it cover to cover each month. However, I was disapointed to read the article, “Make It Sparkle & Shine,” (Feb 2010). The article stated that pearls could be cleaned using water. I believe this will actually harm the pearls.

Dear Pearl Girl,
Thank you for keeping us on our toes.  We checked on this again after receiving your letter. We found that it is okay to clean pearls with water as long as you wipe them off and allow them to air dry completely before putting them away.
